Shadow to Light

A short and intimate group course for folks recovering from hyper self-criticism and shame that has long impacted their freedom and expression in the world. Designed and structured to give those who are ready to stop anxiously hiding and self-shaming, and start living authentically, the education, therapeutic tools and support to recover with self-compassion.

Many of the messages we absorb and the relationship ruptures we experience throughout our childhood and adult lives can leave us with a deep sense of fear

  • of making mistakes

  • of not being good enough

  • of upsetting or disappointing others

  • of being criticised

  • of being abandoned

  • of ourselves

Fear that manifests in us moving through the world in a state of survival, self-preservation and avoidance - too anxious to participate - rather than from a place of freedom, values, genuine desire, personal power and safety. Our relationships with ourselves tend to be cold, distant, unaffectionate, not sure how we really feel or who we really are.

The parts of ourselves that we consider shameful, uncomfortable, painful or undesirable we relegate to the unconscious and tiptoe around anything that might force us to face them. These parts make up our shadow self.

My philosophy is that a profound part of the healing process is learning to befriend your shadow self, which looks like expanding your self-awareness while practicing radical acceptance and curiosity. Not overidentifying with your shadow, but observing it with a mindful attitude of understanding and compassion.

Powerful things can happen when you change the way you relate to your shadow and give yourself permission to be complex and fallible on a mind-body level.

It is safe for you to release your attachments to self-criticism and self-shaming. This is a brand new era.
